“Do not mourn my Death, I did not die
I am the thousand truths against a splendid
lie.”
A boy aged 15 and his sister in her 19, both being brought
up in broken family, hanged themselves to death last night. Reading the story of the siblings, if we happen to come across it in a rather remote corner of the newspaper the story suits best, Pathos spills out
of our heart as we brace for the heart-rending tragedy, which we, from the
social and religious perspective, term an act of sin. But looking at things
from a different angel I would like to presume that it is the society, which
force people into Hamlet’s dilemma of “ to be or not to be,” leaving them with
only two choices: to suffer in the seas of sorrows or to put an end….an end of
everything only to meet the ultimate beginning.
But what forced myself into writing this is the lyrics of
“The Departure” by Hypocrisy. The teenager boy, before bidding GOOD BYE, scribbled
down the lyrics of the song along the last 6 pages of his notebook. Imagining
the state of mind of the brave heart- yes I call it bravery going against those
who call it cowardice-and correlating with the hair-raising lines I was just
awe-struck finding my mind getting stirred into turbulence of disbelief,
despondence, anger, hopelessness, helplessness…..This is how the lyrics go:
I came back to life
Naked, tied to the floor
In the corner of my eyes
I saw them coming through the door
All is black, all is white
Gotta open my eyes
And faced the airport lights
I stared into the eyes of eternity
I've seen what no man's ever seen
I stared into the eyes of eternity
I've been where no man's ever been
I cannot move, behind myself is a spark
I pray on myself of who I left behind
And as I look around
Then I realize I'm all alone
The dark so wide so wasted
Chills me to the bone
Oh, suddenly arising up in the air
My mind was burning
The [Incomprehensible] spare
I said farewell to the bodies, they're stealing
All is black, all is white
I open my eyes
And face the airport lights
I stared into the eyes of eternity
I've seen what no man's ever seen
I stared into the eyes of eternity
I've been where no man's ever been
Always setting us free
I'll fit right back into the dream
But something here just keeps me awake
And I'm cut wide open
Maybe they search for my soul
This is more than a human can take
And don't tell me I'm dreaming
I know what I saw
I'll feel alive like never before
I stared into the eyes of eternity
And I've seen what no man's ever seen
I stared into the eyes of eternity
I've been where no man's ever been
I stared into the eyes of eternity
I've seen what no man's ever seen
I stared into the eyes of eternity
I've been where no man's ever been.
Do not mourn my Death, I did not die
I am the thousand truths against a splendid lie.
I stared into the eyes of Death.
